Funeral services for Stephen Schlein, 61, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jerry Jones and Reverend Andy James officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Oddfellows Cemetery.
Stephen was born January 10, 1964 in Beaumont, Texas to the late Mary Ann (Kemp) and Elmer Louis Schlein, and died Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at his residence.
Stephen grew up in Port Arthur, Texas, where he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1982. Stephen had many interests including golf, hunting, fishing, and watching movies and sporting events. One of his favorite things to do was attend Paul Cauthen concerts with family and friends. He loved his faithful companions, Freddy Boy, Willy, Layla, Sonny Boy, Bluboy, and especially Danny Boy, “the best dog in the world”. Stephen was a successful medical sales representative for many years in Houston, and throughout Texas prior to changing careers in 2009 to become a successful real estate broker. He enjoyed meeting people and developing lasting friendships. He was known for his kind and caring nature and had a very generous soul. Stephen’s priority in life was his family, who made his world complete. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend and will be missed dearly.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Beverly Schlein; son, Patrick Schlein and partner Yvonne Munoz; daughter, Alexandra Schlein and fiancé Ross Baer; brother, Grayden Schlein; stepsister, Benalu Schlein; stepbrother, Tony Schlein; stepsister, Elizabeth Schlein; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Harold and Ora Nell Jones; brothers-in-law, Pat Stubblefield and Harold Jones, Jr.; and stepbrother, Kirk Schlein.
His pallbearers will be Chance Armstrong, Cole Oliver, Kenneth Webb, Shannon Golden, Ross Baer, Dave Staben, Caleb Webb, and Joey Horton.
His honorary pallbearers will be Steve Adams, Hank Harrison, and Kelly Jones.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones Friday, December 12, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
