Stephen Wayne Childress

Funeral services for Stephen Wayne Childress, 70, of Pollok will be held Friday, October 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Harmony Missionary Baptist Church in Nacogdoches with Michael Stanaland officiating. Graveside services under the auspices of the Wells Masonic Lodge #915 A.F. & A.M. will follow in Harmony Cemetery.

Mr. Childress was born January 1, 1955 in Nacogdoches, Texas to the late Dorothy Laverne (Brewer) and Eugene Thomas Childress, and died Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at his residence.

Stephen resided in Angelina County most of his life. He retired from Southland Paper Mill after 30 years of service and the Texas Department of Transportation after 18 years of service. He was a member of the Wells Masonic Lodge #915 A.F. & A.M. and was a faithful member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Childress of Pollok; son and daughter-in-law, Dwayne and Amber Childress of Pollok; stepson, Adam Harper of Rusk; grandchildren, Westin Childress, Haylie Jo Childress, Colt Childress, Kordie Zeilman, Kade Harper, Aidin Harper, Abbey Harper; brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Denise Childress of Huntington; sister and brother-in-law, Shela and Greg Stoddard of Huntington; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife of 44 years, Lynn Childress.

Pallbearers will be Randy Brewer, J.P. White, Ken Cargill, Billy Cornelius, Clay Palmer, and Westin Childress.

Honorary pallbearers will be Colt Childress, Charles Ewalt, Danny Nettles, and Greg Stoddard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Harmony Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 635072, Nacogdoches, Texas 75963.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday morning prior to the service.
