Masonic graveside services for Spencer C. Selman, 78, of Lufkin will be held Friday, June 16, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the Berry Cemetery, under the auspices of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M., with Brother Ron Meadows officiating.
Mr. Selman was born November 15, 1938 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Bertha Lee (McCoy) and Alvie Sheridan Selman, and died Tuesday, June 13, 2017 in a local hospice facility.
Mr. Selman was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. He retired from Abitibi Paper Mill following 42 years of employment as an electrician. Mr. Selman was a 50 year mason with the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M, was in the York Rite, and was a Shriner. He was a member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Linda Selman of Lufkin; son, Clayton Selman of Dallas; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Clayton Wallace of Lufkin; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Selman of Lufkin; sister, Naomi Richard of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stephen Carroll Selman, Sr.; grandson, Stephen Carroll Selman, Jr.; brother, Sheridan L. Selman; sister, Nancy Selman McCall; sisters-in-law, Nila Selman and Wanda Jo “Cookie” Ross Selman; and brother-in-law, Lewis Richard.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Wallace, Joe Wallace, Casey Wallace, and Jacob Wallace.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
