Shirley "Susie" Vinson

February 26, 1953 — October 3, 2020

Funeral services for Shirley “Susie” Vinson, 67, of Pollok will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Self and Shane Scroggins officiating. Interment will follow in the Pollok Cemetery.

Mrs. Vinson was born February 26, 1953 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Anna Ruth (Stephens) and S.L. Wesley, and died Saturday, October 3, 2020 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Vinson was a 1971 graduate of Central High School and had worked for Cain Elementary in Whitehouse and Central ISD. She was known for her cooking, particularly her banana split pie and Thanksgiving dinner, and her love for her family, especially her grandbabies. Mrs. Vinson was a member of Allentown Congregational Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Albert Vinson of Pollok; son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Kim Vinson of Jacksonville; daughter and son-in-law, MaryAnna and Chance Kimbrough of Pollok; grandchildren, Kaci Musick, Lane Musick, both of Estes Park, Colorado, Colton Kimbrough, Kody Johnson, Ella Kimbrough, and Kreek Johnson, all of Pollok; boys who were raised as sons, Terry Wesley and Chris Wesley, both of Lufkin; sister, Cathy Vinson of Pollok; brother and sister-in-law, Kelly and Elizabeth Wesley of Pollok; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Doyle and Beverly Vinson of Pollok; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Betty and Charles Brooks of Dayton, Wanda and Bob Greenville, and Martha McMillon, all of Pollok; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, S.L. and Anna Ruth Wesley; brother, Tom David Wesley, Sr.; parents-in-law, John Preston and Mary Lou (Hodges) Vinson; and brothers-in-law, Robert Preston Vinson and Morris McMillon.

Pallbearers will be Jay Vinson, Jeff Vinson, Tyler Vinson, Tony Greenville, Adam Dodson and Jackson Scroggins.

Honorary pallbearer will be Dillon Ritchey.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
