Funeral services for Shirley Maxine (Due) Smith Hambrick, 85, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, July 24, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at Eastview United Pentecostal Church with Pastor Justin Bullard and her grandson-in-law, Brother Philip Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Gann Cemetery.
Mrs. Hambrick was born April 12, 1937 in Trinity County, Texas to the late Marion W. “Goodern” and Stella Mae (Williams) Due, and died Friday, July 22, 2022 at The Joseph House.
Mrs. Hambrick resided in Lufkin most of her life. She was a loving, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to go shopping and spend time with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Hambrick was a beautician for over 50 years. She was very involved with her church. She served as Sunday school teacher, youth leader, and ladies prayer team leader for many years and impacted many lives for the cause of Christ.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Clayton and Eloise Smith of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Steve Arney of Burleson and Tisha and Bobby Basham, Jr. of Lufkin; grandchildren, Tina Moore and husband Philip, Koyte Smith and wife Rayna, Kelli Scott and husband Nick, all of Lufkin, Kole Smith and wife Morgan of Pennsylvania, Heather Smythe and husband Brandon of San Angelo, Amber Arney and fiancé Daniel Coronado of Lubbock, Sydney Basham and wife Sarah, and Seth Basham and wife Chaynna, all of Lufkin; great-grandchildren, Kade Moore and wife Tori, Kane Moore and wife Madison, all of Lufkin; Maci Rhoades and husband Jason of New Mexico, Jakob Smith, Jayla Frankens and husband Carson, Jadyn Scott, Jaxon Scott, Jace Scott, and Jamisyn Scott, all of Lufkin, Jaelyn Smith of Rosevine, Koen Smith of Pennsylvania, Carter Arney and wife Macie of Burleson, Emily Smythe of College Station, Parker Workman of Lubbock, Oliver Basham, Theo Basham, Sonora Basham, Brayden Basham, and Brycen Basham, all of Lufkin; two great-great-grandchildren and two more on the way; brother and sister-in-law, Merron Due and wife Betty of Huntington; sisters, Jo (Due) Birdsong of Dallas and Linda (Due) Sheridan of Alabama; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion (M.W.) and Stella Due; her first love of 43 years, JR Smith; her second love of 23 years, JT Hambrick; siblings, Charles Ray Due, Elbert Due, and Sue (Due) White Stringer; and special friend of over 50 years, Blanche (Simms) Allen Bruner.
Pallbearers will be Koyte Smith, Kade Moore, Kane Moore, Jakob Smith, Carter Arney, Seth Basham, and Sydney Basham.
Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Cosby and Kevin Fleming.
The family extends special thanks to Kevin Terry and the staff of The Joseph House and Choice Hospice for the love and excellent care they showed toward our mother.
