Shelley LaNell McGuire

September 5, 1952 — December 26, 2025

Lufkin, TX

Graveside services for Shelley LaNell McGuire, 73, of Lufkin will be held Friday, January 2, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells.

Ms. McGuire was born September 5, 1952 in Lufkin to the late Dortha Luciille (Thomas) and James Glynn McGuire, and died Friday, December 26, 2025 at her residence.

Shelley was a woman of contrasts, strong-willed, fiercely independent, and deeply loyal to those she loved. While she could be blunt and guarded with the world at large, she never hesitated to help someone in need. When it mattered most, Shelley showed up, often in quiet ways that spoke louder than words.

To her family, she was deeply loved and cherished. Beneath her tough exterior was a creative spirit and a generous heart. Shelley was an accomplished and passionate seamstress who loved to sew, finding comfort and expression in her craft. She also found peace in the water and enjoyed swimming whenever she could.

One of Shelley’s greatest loves was her dog, Princess, her constant companion and faithful friend. Their bond was so strong that Princess followed Shelley into death just days later, a reflection of the deep connection they shared.

Shelley will be missed by those who knew her best and loved her most. As she moves on from this life, her family holds hope that her journey continues in peace, free of struggle, and surrounded by the love that remained constant throughout her life.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Brandy Smith of Lufkin; grandchildren, Michael Weisinger and wife Erin, Glynda McGuire-Harrell and husband Dakota Harrell, Jason McGuire, all of Lufkin; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerry McGuire of Lufkin, Greg McGuire of Freeport; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Jason McGuire.

Pallbearers will be Dakota Harrell, Jason McGuire, and Tyler Arnold.
