Shawn Douglas Brandenburg

Shawn Douglas Brandenburg, 51, of League City, TX, passed away on October 16, 2025. Born on September 11, 1974, in Lufkin, TX, Shawn was known for his great sense of humor, loyalty, kindness, and a notable stubborn streak that endeared him to many.

Shawn attended Lufkin High School, a place where he formed many lifelong relationships that continued to flourish throughout his life. Shawn was able to carve out a fulfilling life filled with deep personal connections, including a work family that he loved very much.

Throughout his life, Shawn was surrounded by a loving family and a wide circle of friends who will dearly miss his presence.

He is survived by his mother, Debbie Ray Lee of Burke; his father, Bill Brandenburg of Grandview; stepmother, Eva Brandenburg of Grandview; sister, Melissa Lopez and her husband Larry of Colorado Springs, CO; nephew, Dylan Waldrep and his wife Emma of Minot AFB; nephew, Michael Simmons of Colorado Springs, CO; uncle, David Ray and aunt, LaDonna Ray of Corrigan; aunt, Susan Callison of Lufkin; and numerous cousins; as well as Kahla Gear of League City, who was a very special person in his life. His circle also included lifelong friends Shelly Rhoden, Thenis Buggs, and Darnell Mark. Shawn also leaves behind his dearest friends, Tracie Gunnels and Carl Watkins, among many others.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eddie and Gwen Ray of Corrigan, and William "Brandy" and Ruth Brandenburg of Lufkin.

A private service will be held at a later date to honor Shawn's life.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Eddie Ray Corrigan-Camden ISD Scholarship at 348 Laurelia Loop, Corrigan, Texas 75939, a cause close to Shawn's heart. 

His legacy will live on through the laughter he shared, the protection he offered, and the memories cherished by all who knew him.
