Memorial services for Sharon Ann Wark, 78, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Guessippina Bonner and Jason McDaniel officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Wark was born August 6, 1946 in Ayer, Massachusetts to the late Deneige (Morrisette) and Joseph O. Lanteigne, and died Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at her residence.
Sharon graduated from Ayer High School Class of 1963. She worked at Ft. Devens, Massachusetts where she met Jim Wark and processed him into his assigned Army unit. On February 20, 1969 they went on their first date to Union Oyster House in Boston, Massachusetts. They were deeply in love and married on August 9, 1969. After Jim was discharged from the Army, they moved to his hometown of Lufkin, Texas.
Sharon enjoyed her many trips with Jim traveling by car, plane, or cruise ship, whether through the Panama Canal or to Alaska or to one of their occasional trips to the nearby casinos. She loved traveling back home to Massachusetts to visit many family and friends. Even though she lived in East Texas, her heart still loved and missed her hometown of Shirley, Massachusetts.
Sharon was a collector of M. I. Hummel figurines with her favorite being Merry Wanderer. Sharon was an active member of the District Democratic Party and was the Financial Secretary-Treasurer of the Jim Wark Labor Hall.
Sharon was a loving mother and mother-in-law. Sharon was a proud Grammy to both her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Jason McDaniel of Rosenberg, Texas, Susan Wark and Kirk Looney of Lufkin; grandchildren, Sean Wark, Jessica McDaniel and boyfriend James Phillips, Shannon Latham, Colby McDaniel and fiancée Randi; great-grandchildren, Tanner Wark, Lylah Wark, Cameron Carrell, Emery Carrell, Kaylee Carrell; brother, Carlton D. Lanteigne and wife Barbara of Bedford, New Hampshire; sister-in-law, Karen Lanteigne of Shirley, Massachusetts; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, James “Jim” Wark; her parents, Joseph “Bebe” and Deneige “Dennie” Lanteigne; sister, Gail Clara; and brothers, Joseph G. Lanteigne of St. Petersburg, Florida and Michael Lanteigne of Shirley, Massachusetts.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
