Sharon (Taylor) Moore

Funeral services for Sharon (Taylor) Moore, 72, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, March 2, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Karen Norton officiating.  Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.

Ms. Moore was born June 26, 1947 in Beaumont, Texas, the daughter of the late Eunice (Wright) and Jim Dale Taylor.  She died Thursday, February 27, 2020 in a Lufkin nursing facility.

Ms. Moore had most recently worked as a independent home health caregiver.  Prior to this, she worked at the Diboll Free Press for a number of years, and had also worked at the Lufkin Daily News.  She was an incredible mother, grandmother and sister.  Ms. Moore was very active at her church, Timber Creek Church, where she taught Bible study and was involved in numerous ministries. She loved to tell jokes and had a great sense of humor. Ms. Moore was also a poet and loved writing letters to people.

Survivors include her son, Charles Stover of College Station; two grandsons, Luther Stover and Steed Stover, both of College Station; sisters, Beverly Ann (Taylor) Wells and husband Charles of Lufkin, Gloria (Taylor) Vasquez and husband Jesse of Tyler, Carol Gartman of Lufkin, and Pam Halsell of Dallas; stepdaughters, Angie Moore of Hudson, Kathy Moore of Lufkin, and Sharon Armstrong of Huntsville; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Nelda Gonzales; and former husband, Kenneth Moore.

Pallbearers will be Luther Stover, Steed Stover, Steve Capps, Brody Capps, Cody Stifle, Jacob Stifle and Jimmy Ray.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, East Texas Regional Office, 304 N. Raguet St., Suite C, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will receive friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon at the funeral home.
