Sharon Lynn Monroe

Memorial services for Sharon Lynn Monroe, 75, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ron Meadows officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Ms. Monroe was born February 24, 1951 in Sherman, Texas to the late Helen Laverne (Burk) and James Howard Souther, and died Monday, June 22, 2026 at her residence.

Sharon had resided in Lufkin for more than 40 years. She received her bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and was a Certified Public Accountant. Her faith was of the utmost importance and carried her through, along with her church family at Denman Avenue Baptist Church, where she had been a member since 1977. She loved her family and especially adored her only grandson, Max. Sharon enjoyed getting together with her group of lady friends and playing canasta.

Survivors include her son, Chris Monroe of Lufkin; daughter, Traci Monroe of McKinney; grandson, Max Coker and his father, Tony Coker; her extended family – son, Ralph D. Modisette of Houston; siblings, Gerald Souther and wife Mary of Sherman, Sandra Reddick of Mulvane, Kansas, Alan Souther and wife Debbie of Pottsboro, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; special friend, Andy J. Modisette III; and brother, Larry Souther.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
