Sam W. Pirtle, Jr.

Funeral services for Sam W. Pirtle, Jr., 93, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Cindy Doran officiating. Interment will follow in the Largent Cemetery.

Mr. Pirtle was born May 25, 1931 in the Happy Valley Community of Cushing, Texas to the late Annie (Channel) and Sam William Pirtle, Sr., and died Saturday, November 30, 2024 in Lufkin, Texas.

Sam was employed with Contractor’s Supplies, Inc. for 40 years, retiring as Vice President in 1996. He proudly served his country as a Tank Commander in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Sam was a member of The Kiwanis Club of Lufkin and a faithful member of Keltys United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his sons, Gregory Ray Pirtle of Tyler, Jeffrey William Pirtle and wife Erin (Sommerlatte) Pirtle of Nacogdoches; sister, Ruby (Pirtle) Pace of Cushing; brother, Jerry Pirtle and wife Debbie (Jones) Pirtle of Cushing; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Karen Lea (Gregory) Pirtle; son, Samuel Lee Pirtle; and sisters, Elva (Pirtle) Matlock and Lou Ella (Pirtle) Duckett.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Pace, Kevin Duckett, Jamie Pace, Brian Pirtle, Shawn Kaemmerling, and Craig Belk.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday morning prior to the service.
