Ronnie Joe Wenzel

Ronald Joseph Wenzel “Ronnie Joe” was called home to God Tuesday, December 29, 2020 in Lufkin, Texas. The oldest son of Cecil W. and Wanda F. (Cox) Wenzel, he was born January 12, 1949 in Eldorado, Illinois and raised in Alton, Illinois.

Although born in Illinois, Ronald spent the last 30 years of his life living in Lufkin, Texas. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. After the military, he spent most of his life working in construction. He will forever be remembered as a man who could always find a way to make you laugh, gave of himself selflessly, loved his family and friends with his whole heart and kept his faith strong in God until his last breaths.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Stephanie Hinson and husband Craig of Bethalto, Illinois; sons, Jeremy Wenzel and wife Stacey of Delta, Ohio, and Tyler Wenzel of Lufkin, Texas; grandchildren, Savannah and Joseph Wenzel; sister, Mindy Barthol and husband Randy of Benton, Louisiana; brother-in-law, Douglas Plopper of Lufkin, Texas; sister-in-law, Kathy Wenzel of Alton, Illinois; as well as many other beloved family members and lifelong friends.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Wanda Wenzel; sisters, Mary Conruex and Cecilia Plopper; and brother, Doug Wenzel.

Memorial services with military honors for Ronald Joseph Wenzel “Ronnie Joe” of Lufkin will be held Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jimmy Dunn officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Brianne Conner of Affinity Hospice.
