Ron Davis

Funeral services for Ron Davis, 77, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Don Crager officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Davis was born July 28, 1947 in Palestine, Texas to the late Thelma Marie (Britt) and Melvilee Davis, and died Sunday, March 23, 2025 at his residence.

Ron worked for the Texas Forest Service for more than 27 years and retired as the Chief Law Enforcement Officer. During his time with TFS, he was the Incident Commander on many fires out of state. He taught classes at Angelina College on Wildfire Management and helped with legislation concerning timber theft. He will be remembered as always having a good story or joke to share. He enjoyed working outside, and always seemed to go out during the hottest part of the day. He enjoyed fishing, having fish fries, cooking breakfast foods and taking care of his family.  He was an avid Astros and Saints fan. He loved his Christmas parties, spending time with his grandchildren, and especially loved the funny and special way that he and his wife communicated over the years.

Survivors include his loving wife of more than 55 years, Theta Jane Davis; daughter, Kelli Davis Stevenson and husband Rodney Stevenson; son, Scott Davis; daughter, Stacie Davis; grandchildren, Mark Lewis and wife Michelle Lewis, Shannon Riley, Erik McCoy and wife Bianca McCoy, Jared Davis and Morgan Harmon, Jacob Davis and wife Kelsi Davis, Kendall Davis, Jordyn Davis and Alec Morales; great-grandchildren, Lacey Lewis, Camdyn Lewis, Blayne Lewis, Kingston Lewis, Courtlend Davis, Chloe Lewis, Carver Davis, Raya McCoy, Collyn Davis; brother-in-law, Roby Terrill; sisters-in-law, Emily Childers and husband Jimmy, Rita Terrill, Jan Davis; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvilee and Thelma Davis; grandson, Matthew Lewis; brothers, Bob Davis, Don Davis; and brother-in-law, Edd Terrill III.

Pallbearers will be Mark Lewis, Jared Davis, Jacob Davis, Erik McCoy, Chantz Davis, and Alec Morales.

Honorary pallbearers will be Max McCormick, Jimmy Childers, Matthew Lewis, Mitch McDonald, Lemone Reese, Ronnie Hamm, Dale Terrill, Leeland Strban, Gary McCoy, Bobby Young, and many Texas Forest Service personnel and Volunteer Fire Departments he worked with over the years.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
