Graveside services for Roland “Rolle” Sweat, 75, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells with Brother Ronnie Merritt officiating.
Mr. Sweat was born June 8, 1950 in Houston, Texas to the late Juanita June (Mathis) and George Rushing Sweat, and died Thursday, September 18, 2025 at home surrounded by family and friends.
Rolle resided in Lufkin for more than 55 years and worked as an Operator at Hudson Water Department for more than 20 years. He was a “Jeeper” and enjoyed working on and riding in his Jeep. He enjoyed being outdoors and doing yardwork. He was caring, helpful, and always willing to lend a helping hand. Rolle was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Ruby Sweat of Lufkin; daughters, Melanie Reece of Lufkin, Milissa Anderson and husband Kenneth of Ferris, Maurita Sweat of Lufkin; son-in-law, Robert Reece of Lufkin; grandsons, Deaven Castillo, Daylon Reece and wife, Blair; great-grandsons, Carter Reece, Corbyn Reece; cousin, Rebecca Downs; special family friend, Judy Holland; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dale Sweat.
Pallbearers will be Robert Reece, Daylon Reece, Deaven Castillo, Roger Powers, Greg Ballard, and Kenneth Anderson.
The family wants to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to Hospice in the Pines for the exceptional, compassionate care provided.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
