Rodney Charles Paulette

December 20, 1954 — December 4, 2025

Lufkin, TX

December 20, 1954 – December 4, 2025

Rodney Charles Paulette, 70, of Lufkin, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025.

Born on December 20, 1954, in Lufkin to Vandy and Esther Paulette, Rodney grew up in a close-knit family with five siblings: David, Tommy, James, Sharon, and Tonya. Rodney graduated from Lufkin High School in 1973, where he was a standout three sport athlete. He continued his education, on athletic scholarship, at Angelina College and McNeese State University. In 1976, he married Diane Doran of Shreveport, Louisiana, a union he often said was proof that he “married up.”

Although Rodney earned a degree in Finance, his heart led him back to Lufkin, where he began pouring iron at Texas Foundries on second and third shift. Through hard work and determination, he rose through the ranks to become President and CEO of Texas Foundries. Rodney loved sharing his story with young people, reminding them that with perseverance, any goal is achievable. After leaving Texas Foundries, Rodney pursued independent ventures, largely investing in Mexican foundries and Texas real estate. His favorite business venture was Best R.V. Park on Toledo Bend, a place he cherished not just for its stunning lakefront setting, but also for the wonderful people he met there and the sheer joy he found in sharing good times with fellow lake enthusiasts.

Rodney was known for his larger-than-life personality and quiet generosity. Beneath a “gruff” exterior was a man who anonymously helped countless people during their most difficult times. His loyalty and character were legendary, symbolized by his well-worn Toyota truck with 440,000 miles, which he refused to replace, even outfitting it with brand-new tires because “you have to plan for success.”

He loved his land, his pond stocked with catfish and bass - which he considered pets – as well as caring for his peacocks, chickens and turkeys. Rodney’s greatest pride was his family, especially his daughter Kristina, whom he never missed an opportunity to brag about, much to her embarrassment. He cherished his lifelong friendship with Trout Felts, age 94; the two shared evening “refreshments” in rocking chairs until Rodney’s final day.

Rodney, a longtime member of Timber Creek Church in Lufkin, is survived by his devoted wife Diane, loving daughter Kristina, siblings James and Tonya, and his rescue pets - dogs Milly, Sarge, Tinker, Merida, and cats Little and Socks. He was cherished by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him, and his absence will be deeply felt.

Rod you were one of kind and will never be forgotten.
