Robert Edward "Bubba" Wood

Funeral services for Robert Edward “Bubba” Wood, 79, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, October 5, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mark A. Newton and Pastor Truett Newton officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Wood was born January 9, 1946 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Louise (Croom) and Winfred E. “Bud” Wood, and died Monday, September 29, 2025 surrounded by his family in Lufkin, Texas.

Bubba was a lifelong resident of Lufkin and owned and operated Wood’s Feed & Supply for 40 years. He graduated from Lufkin High School with the Class of ’64, going on to graduate from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1968. While in high school, he was a proud member of the State Championship Baseball Team in 1963. His love for sports and baseball led him to being very active in Lufkin Youth Baseball, serving in various roles and positions over the years. The things Bubba held dearest to his heart were his family, his faith, and his farm. Bubba was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Lufkin.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sheila Wood of Lufkin; son, Wes Wood and wife Tammy of Lufkin; daughter, Wendy Moore and husband Casey of Dallas; son, Clark Wood and wife Deana of Conroe; grandchildren, Aidan Wood and Hanna, Kyle Moore, Anna Moore, Walker Wood, Everly Wood, Jacob Waldron, Kayla Waldron; great-grandchildren, Elijah and Violet; sister, Linda McDugald and husband Jim; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Louise Wood.

Pallbearers will be Randy Minshew, Klint Powers, Michael Beaty, David Mikeal, Stephen Liles, and Glenn Haskins.

Honorary pallbearers will be teammates of the 1963 Lufkin Panther State Championship Baseball Team.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
