Robert "Paw" Rast

Funeral services for Robert “Paw” Rast, 91, of Diboll will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Charles Weeks and William Weeks officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Rast was born June 16, 1933 in Palestine, Texas to the late Pearl (Barefield) and John Elmer Rast, and died Thursday, September 19, 2024 at his residence.

Robert had resided in Diboll most of his life and worked as a Millwright for Temple Inland, retiring after 40 years of service. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He attended Ryan Chapel Methodist Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Ruth Rast Lemmond of Diboll; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery and Sherry Rast of Lufkin; grandchildren and their spouses, Jermery and Tabby Rast, Daniel and Jana Rast, Jason and Theresa Lemmond, Sheena and Jeremy Turner, Ashley and Matthew Cartwright, Sean and Nikki Pickard, Jessica and Marco Bautista; 24 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Floyd and Judy Rast of Huntsville, Johnny and Fredda Rast of Sour Lake, Charles Rast of Dallas; sisters, Mary Ann Thompson of Diboll, Addie Mae Witt of Huntington, Shirley Wilson of Lufkin, Linda Reynolds of Dallas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Rast; his mother, Pearl Rast, who died when he was 16 months old; his mom who raised and loved him as her own, Leona Rast; his wife, Shirley Rast; and son, Jery Wayne Rast.

Pallbearers will be Jermery Rast, Daniel Rast, Jason Lemmond, Domanick McClure, Jeremy Turner, and Matthew Cartwright.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sean Pickard, Marco Bautista, and Sheena Turner.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning prior to the service.
