Robert Eugene "Bobby" Chudej

Robert Eugene “Bobby” Chudej, age 78, died tragically Saturday, September 13, 2025 in Lufkin, Texas. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Bobby was born October 21, 1946 in Waco, Texas to Ernest Joseph Chudej and Dorothy Mae (Uptmor) Shilling. He grew up in West, Texas where he started working at an early age, picking cotton and mowing lawns.

On February 19, 1966 Bobby married Linda Nell Bush. Shortly after he was called to serve in the Armed Forces where he proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968. Afterwards he went on to college, building a solid foundation for both his career and his life. He began a career that spanned many roles, including sales, management, and real estate. In his free time, Bobby was happiest riding his motorcycles, putting together puzzles, fishing, and building and fixing things. He had a passion for gambling too, affectionately known to some as “warm ‘em up Bob!”

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda; daughter and son-in-law, Laura Leigh and Carl Lee Zylstra; daughter, Kelly Gail Noe; granddaughters, Rebeccah Kellyn Zylstra and Madelin Alexandria Noe; sister, Elizabeth Ann Hastings; and brother-in-law, Jeffery Blaine Bush.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest J. Chudej and Dorothy M. Shilling; stepdad, George W. Shilling; and brother, William A. Chudej.
