Robert "Bob" Young

Funeral services for Robert “Bob” Young, 63, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Charles M. Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Young was born June 6, 1954 in Port Lavaca, Texas to the late Jimmie Earline (Campbell) and Granville Wallace Young, and died Tuesday, August 22, 2017 in a local hospital.

Mr. Young resided in Lufkin most of his life and was a supervisor at Georgia Pacific for 40 years. He enjoyed baseball, hunting, and fishing, and was an avid outdoorsman. He loved his family and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Young was a member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Elaine (Stansel) Young of Lufkin; sons, Eric Young and Craig Young, both of Lufkin; grandsons, Joeseph Young of San Antonio and Joshuah Young of College Station; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Angelia Young, David and Kelly Young, all of Lufkin, and Ken Young of Dallas; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Drs. Nancy and Fred Thornberry of College Station, Joanie Vaughn of Nacogdoches, and Linda and Gandy Oliver of Lufkin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Kathy Stansel of Pollok; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Don Young; parents-in-law, Eugene and Mae Stansel; and brother-in-law, Edward Vaughn.
Pallbearers will be Joe Pat Cooper, Ted Aaron, Larry Kroeker, Randy Martin, David McKee, Jerry Ivie, and Gary Hendrick.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
