Rita A. Seamans

Memorial services for Rita A. Seamans, 74, of Lufkin will be held Friday, December 28, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mrs. Seamans was born October 22, 1944 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Virgie (Crawford) and William Aubrey Seamans, and died Thursday, December 20, 2018 at her residence.

Mrs. Seamans was a lifelong resident of Lufkin and was a retired Educator. She loved politics and was a big community activist.

Survivors include her brother-in-law, John Henry Tatum and wife JoAnn of Lufkin; niece, Luan Tatum of Lufkin; nephews, John Tatum II and wife Penny and Scott Tatum and wife Shelley, all of Lufkin; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon Wheeler; and sister, Audrey Tatum.

Memorial contributions may be made to the House of Compassion of Lufkin, 1312 N. Timberland Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Friday afternoon prior to the service at the funeral home.
