Wayne Welch

Private graveside services for Wayne Welch, 62, of Lufkin will be held in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Brother Keith Bickley officiating.

Wayne was born September 28, 1959 in Lufkin to Dixie (Wiley) Welch and the late Kenneth Ray Welch, and died Friday, November 5, 2021 in a local hospital.

Wayne was a lifelong resident of Lufkin and a graduate of Lufkin High School. He was a foundry worker for more than 30 years at Lufkin Industries and Texas Foundries. Wayne was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Rebecca Welch of Lufkin; sons, Jeremy W. Welch and Justin K. Welch, both of Lufkin; mother, Dixie Welch of Lufkin; brother, Wes Welch and wife Connie of Lufkin; brother-in-law, Glenn Thornton and wife Jackie of Douglass; mother-in-law, Kay D. Thornton of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones after 3:30 p.m. Monday afternoon at the home of Dixie Welch, 2503 Hickory Street, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
