Funeral services for Richard Arlen Havard, 81, of Zavalla will be held Monday, February 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Larry Innerarity and Brother Cary Modisett officiating. Interment will follow in the Zavalla Cemetery.
Mr. Havard was born October 24, 1936 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Oddie Mae (Squyres) and Aaron Lee Havard, and died Thursday, February 1, 2018 in a local hospital.
Mr. Havard had resided in Lufkin and Zavalla most of his life. He was a butcher and retired from Renfro Packing. He loved hunting, fishing, and watching westerns on television, but most of all he loved his family. Mr. Havard was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his daughter Letha Barge and husband James of Zavalla; grandson, Timothy Barge of Zavalla; sisters, Clois Havard and Annie McNeil, both of Huntington; nieces and nephews, Tammy, Vickie, Tonya, Dedra, Edward, and Robert; sister-in-law, Linda Havard of Lufkin; brother-in-law, Doug Shives of Apple Springs; special friends, Bobby and Cynthia Treadway and Ashley and Aaron Oliver; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nelda (Shives) Havard; brother, Allen Havard; and niece, Donna Havard.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Treadway, Doug Shives, Larry Havard, Heath Bragg, Joe Renfro, Logan Pinner, Landon Pinner, and Timothy Barge.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jessie Church, Jim Risinger, Dylan Pinner, Colyn Pinner, Edward McNeil, Robert Havard, and Aaron Oliver.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
