Rhonda Renee Tripp

Funeral services for Rhonda Renee Tripp, 55, of Zavalla will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints Church with Bishop Ryan Dodge officiating.

Mrs. Tripp was born September 27, 1968 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Linda Kay (Simmons) and Ronald Wayne Rice, and died Thursday, October 19, 2023 in Spring, Texas.

Rhonda taught school at Zavalla ISD for 16 years until she had some health issues and had to resign. She enjoyed being involved in community theater and she was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints in Lufkin.

Survivors include her husband, Jon Tripp of Zavalla; father, Ronald Rice and wife Mary of Kingsland, Georgia; mother, Linda McKie and husband Howard of Spring, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Eric  and Julie Rice of Idaho, Jason Bruce of Kingsland, Georgia, Michael and PJ Rice of Houston, Texas, Jennifer and Alan Munger; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shelly and Don Hunt of Houston, Marilyn and Dale Ford of Florida, Julie and Cory Russell of Houston, Kimberly and Abraham Ojeda of Utah, Kristen and Kris Slayton, and Tricia McKie-Nettles and husband Trey, all of Houston; nieces and nephews and their spouses, Jonathan and Lacey Rice, Gabrielle Bruce, Rebecca Rice, Matthew Bruce, Eliza and Michael Robinson, Lori Rice, Kaylynn Slayton, Daniel Rice, Andra Rice, Aspen Everett (Logan), Jaelynn Munger, Brendan Rice, Donnie Hunt, Kenny Russell, Jason Munger, MacKenzie Martinez, Leah Rice, Lily Martinez, Carter Ford, MacKenzie Ford, Leni Rice, Kolton Slayton; great niece, Alexandretta Robinson; great nephew coming March 2024; and numerous other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Cory Russell, Kenny Russell, Trey Nettles, Kris Slayton, Howard McKie and Donny Hunt.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests backpacks with school supplies be donated to Zavalla ISD.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon prior to the service at the church.
