Funeral services for Reverend Bob Lewis, 83, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Timber Creek Church with Pastor Jeremy Yancey and Mark Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Rev. Lewis, “Bro. Bob,” was born May 6, 1935 in Trinity County to the late Elvin Casper and Ellen Baker Lewis, and died Friday, October 12, 2018 in Lufkin.
Bro. Bob came to Lufkin in 1970 as Pastor of First Assembly of God. He ministered in the Lufkin and surrounding communities for the next 45 years. In 1971 he led the First Assembly of God congregation from its location on Culverhouse Street to its present location on Loop 287.
By 1971, Bro. Bob could be heard daily on the radio, broadcasting Southern Gospel music on his show, Sounds of Inspiration. Sounds of Inspiration could also be seen weekly on KTRE TV. In 1990, he founded Victory Assembly of God. Bro. Bob served on numerous committees in the Assemblies of God including as Presbyter of the Lufkin Section. He was also an active member of the Kiwanis Club and assistant chaplain at Memorial and Woodland Heights hospitals where he daily visited people not only from his congregation, but also other people who knew him from TV and radio. In 2000, he became Senior Citizens Pastor at Lufkin First Assembly and continued to serve in that position until formally retiring after over 60 years of ministry.
Bro. Bob spent the last 2-1/2 years at PineCrest Retirement Community. A heartfelt thank you is extended to the wonderful staff and nurses at PineCrest for their loving and exceptional care. Additionally, the family thanks the professional and caring staff at Hospice in the Pines. A very special thank you is extended to his beloved Dr. James Caskey and staff for 28+ years of outstanding personal care and attention.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ann Wigley Lewis of Lufkin; children, Dennis and Melissa Lewis of Frisco, Susan Robertson of Grand Prairie, and Mark and Alica Lewis of Lufkin; grandchildren, Kyle Lewis of Denver, Colorado, Collin Lewis and Daniella Urdinlaiz of New York, New York, Amanda and Jeremy Pierson of Waxahachie, Amber Lewis of Fort Worth, Courtney and Stephen Raikes of Fort Worth, Aaron Lewis of Lufkin, and Colton Robertson of Chicago, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Sydney and Gavin Pierson of Waxahachie and Jaemis Raikes of Fort Worth; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Lewis of Tarkington; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sister-in-law, William Hayden and Jean Carr Lewis, Norris Alton Lewis, and Harvey LeRoy Lewis; sisters and brother-in-law, Flora Mae and Derwood Harrell and Alma Lavelle Lewis.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Lewis, Jeremy Pierson, Stephen Raikes, Aaron Lewis, Colton Robertson, and Jason Dickerson.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Timber Creek Church.
