Rev. Billy D. Mitchell

Mass of Christian Burial for Rev. Billy D. Mitchell, 55, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church with Most Rev. Bishop Joseph Strickland officiating. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in the Moral Community of Nacogdoches County. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church.

Rev. Mitchell was born December 22, 1961 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Barbara (O’Briant) and Frank Mitchell, and died Wednesday, June 28, 2017 in a local hospital.

Rev. Mitchell resided in Lufkin most of his life. He was a Registered Nurse and worked for New Century Hospice. Rev. Mitchell was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a deacon and member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dianna (Adams) Mitchell of Lufkin; daughter, Kristin Mitchell of Lufkin; son, Justin Mitchell of Lufkin; father, Frank Mitchell of Lufkin; mother, Barbara (O’Briant) Fisher of Hamlin; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary McNiel of Hamlin, Dustina Mitchell, and Kelley and Michael Chissus, all of Lufkin; brothers and sister-in-law, Stephen Mitchell of Hamlin and Jason and Heather Mitchell of Katy; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jason Mitchell, Tom Adams, Brian Adams, Alex Saxton, Scott Brunner, and Stephen Mitchell.

Honorary pallbearer will be Greg Ramos, Jr.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Monastery of the Infant Jesus, 1501 Lotus Lane, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church.
