Raymond Bernard Slomba

Graveside services for Raymond Bernard Slomba, 83, of Lufkin will be held Friday, January 4, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Baltimore, Maryland.

Mr. Slomba was born February 17, 1935 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Frances and Louis Slomba, and he went to be with the Lord Sunday, December 16, 2018 in a local hospital.

Raymond was a member of St. Clements Catholic church in Rosedale, Maryland. He served as First Class Airman in the United States Air Force from August 1954 to August 1958. Raymond was employed as a machinist at Crown Cork and Seal in Baltimore, Maryland.

The Good Lord blessed Raymond and Agnes with nine children:  daughter, Elizabeth Carnley and husband Lanny of Lufkin; daughter, Teresa Brewer of Lufkin; daughter, Cathy Slomba Batson and husband Jim of Tomball; daughter, Mary Boles and husband Chuck of Lufkin; son, Leo Slomba and wife Karen of Lufkin; daughter, Dorothy Rodriguez and husband David of Austin; son, Louis Slomba and partner Donna Devine of Austin; son, Michael Slomba and wife Margo of Corpus Christi; and daughter, Clara Harold and husband Tony of Middle River, Maryland.

Raymond moved from Baltimore, Maryland to Lufkin 10 years ago. With life in Maryland and Texas, Raymond had the pleasure of being part of activities and events in the lives of nine granddaughters and 10 grandsons. His blessings continued with the arrival of 17 great-grandchildren.

God the Father welcomed loved ones prior to opening His arms to Raymond. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Agnes Slomba; brothers, John, Edward, Dennis and Louis, Jr.; and sister, Claire Diffenbaugh Yost.

Raymond is survived by his brother Richard Slomba and wife Jean of Rosedale, Maryland.
