Mr. Ryan was born July 11, 1948 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Frances (Goins) and Cecil Ryan, and died Thursday, May 23, 2024 at his residence.
Raymond Ryan answered to many different names. He was affectionately called Coon, Rhino, Ray and Papa. He worked as a reserve deputy for Angelina County for many years. He also worked for his brother, Kenneth Ryan, in his surveying business for over 20 years. He was a member of the Livingston Chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He and his brother Kenneth traveled East Texas participating in Confederate reenactments at cemeteries with confederate veterans buried on their grounds, including Ryan Chapel Cemetery. He was a gun enthusiast, an incredible artist, a musician, bible scholar and avid reader. He had a love for old country stores and cafes and enjoyed visiting them as much as he could. He was intelligent and well-read but he enjoyed living a very simple and uncomplicated life. He loved dogs, children and especially his family. He was one of a kind and anyone that was lucky enough to have known him should feel blessed.
