Randy Ellis Blanks

Memorial services for Randy Ellis Blanks, 75, of Lufkin, Texas will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church with Fr. David Faulkner officiating. A Celebration of Life will follow with lunch being served at the Shadden/Blanks residence.

Randy was born July 12, 1948 in Austin, Texas to Jack Ellis Roland Blanks and Mary Neal Blanks. Randy grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and passed away peacefully at his home Monday, November 6, 2023.

Randy loved his family and was so proud of each of his grandchildren that he got to have a personal hand in raising. He loved his career, a planner, which he often called his job his hobby. He worked for DETCOG followed by thirty plus years working for David Waxman Incorporated. He loved Texas A&M where he graduated from with a bachelor’s degree in Landscape and Architecture along with his master’s degree in Urban Planning. Randy greeted almost everyone with a “Howdy” in true Aggie fashion. Randy’s biggest accomplishment in life was being a servant of the Lord. He was a member of St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church of Lufkin.

Randy is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Cathy Blanks of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Rusty Shadden of Lufkin; his grandchildren, Thatcher, Gunnar, and Halley of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Sherry and David Haas of Paradise, Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Randy was proceeded in death by his mother and father.

It was Randy’s wish that any memorial contributions be made to St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church, 919 S. John Redditt Drive, Lufkin, Texas, 75904.
