Prentice Douglas "Jack" Bryan

Funeral services for Prentice Douglas “Jack” Bryan, 92, of Pollok will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Elton Musick officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Broaddus.

Mr. Bryan was born December 10, 1931 in San Augustine, Texas to the late Maggie (Rayburn) and Prentice Bryan, and died Friday, February 16, 2024 at his residence.

Mr. Bryan served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 and retired from KTRE-TV, where he worked as an electrician/engineer for 21 years. He was a huge family man and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. He had a green thumb and was a great gardener. Mr. Bryan was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Nelda Bryan of Pollok; daughters and sons-in-law, Janis and Sammie Stewart of Lufkin, Charlotte Tarver, and Brenda and Martin Terry, all of Pollok; grandchildren, Jennifer Burgett, Douglas Hornsby and wife Tiffeny, Scott Watson, and Erin Terry; great-grandchildren, Alexandra Hanson and husband Austin, Caitlen Watson, Alyson Watson, Maggie Burgett and Preston Hoffman, Lily Hornsby, Randolf Watson, Jackson Hornsby, and Stevie Lee Terry; brothers and sister-in-law, Bertis Bryan of Broaddus, Travis Bryan of Kountze, Steve Bryan of New Caney, and Freddie and Cyndie Bryan of Broaddus; sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Max Strong of Henderson; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Amber Terry; grandson, Michael Terry; sister, Laura Faye Bryan; and brother, Thomas “Red” Bryan.

Pallbearers will be Doug Hornsby, Scott Watson, Sammie Stewart, Martin Terry, Preston Hoffman, and Kenneth Goodwin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sonny Holmes, Neil Reynolds, Randall Craft, and Edward Williams.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
