Pauline (Phillips) Evett Spinks

Funeral services for Pauline (Phillips) Evett Spinks, 83, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Trey Thompson officiating with son, Brother Randall Evett assisting.  Interment will follow in the Treadwell Cemetery in Huntington.

Mrs. Spinks was born August 29, 1935 in Chireno, Nacogdoches County, Texas, the daughter of the late Nonie Mae (Foreman) and Josh P. Phillips. She died Wednesday, November 7, 2018 in a Huntington nursing facility.

Mrs. Spinks had lived most of her life in the Lufkin/Huntington area. She had been employed as a cashier at Brooks Convenience Store. Pauline was a homemaker and a beloved mother, grandmother and sister.  She loved her family unconditionally, and always looked forward to cooking for them. She enjoyed life and loved playing “42.” Mrs. Spinks was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Corsicana.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Jerry and Linda Evett, Sharon and Isaac Nerren, Gary and Aleatha Evett, Brenda Mosley, Vicki and Joel Pinner, Becky and Curtis Crawford, Gina James, all of Huntington, Delton and Denise Evett of Hudson, Randall and Norma Evett of Corsicana, Lisa and Jeff Parrish of Oklahoma, and Jackie Evett of Corsicana; thirty-five grandchildren; sixty-three great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nora Holloway of San Augustine, Ruby and Tom Collins of Huntington, Willean Conte of New York City, Lucille and Doyle Burnett of Huntington, and Ethel and Kenneth Simms of Lufkin; half-brother, Frank Phillips of Lufkin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.

Mrs. Spinks was preceded in death by her parents; twin sons, Donnie Evett and Ronnie Evett; son, Bruce Evett; grandchildren, Jaron Parrish, Crystal Womack, and Garry Michael Evett; great grandson, Landon Evett; and brother, Homer Phillips.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Holloway, Byron Holloway, Dennis Collins, Larry Collins, Jason Collins, Tim Burnett, Elwin Lamon, and Kelvin Lamon.

Honorary pallbearers are David Phillips, Michael Bennett, Glenn Bennett, and Clifton Flint.

The family will receive friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home in Lufkin.
