Paul J. "Joe" Jackson

Funeral services for Paul J. “Joe” Jackson, 72, of Pollok will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel, with masonic rites under the auspices of the Wells Masonic Lodge #915 A.F. & A.M., with Brother Keith Bickley of Pollok Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Pollok Cemetery.

Mr. Jackson was born August 30, 1945 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Lou Vonzie (McClendon) and Paul J. Jackson, and passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Houston Methodist Hospital.

Mr. Jackson had resided in the Lufkin area all of his life. He received an Associate of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Angelina College and attended Stephen F. Austin State University. He was a retired Mechanical Maintenance Manager with American Color Graphics with 34 years of service. He also retired from Georgia Pacific and Temple-Inland, both in Diboll.

Mr. Jackson was an avid outdoorsman. He was a member of the Eason Lake Hunting Club. Joe was blessed with an amazing singing voice. Early in his life, his mother entered him in many singing competitions. They traveled all over East Texas to compete. Joe was a caring and compassionate man. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who adored his granddaughters. He had many friends, whom he cherished. Joe was a lifetime member of the Wells Masonic Lodge #915 A.F. & A.M.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Jackson of Pollok; daughters, Jackie Lyles of Houston and Judy Sheffield and husband Jimmy of Alto; granddaughters, Sydney Sheffield of Austin and Reagan Sheffield of Fort Worth; step-granddaughter, Jessica Clark and husband Chris of Ennis; brother, Danny Jackson and wife Donna of Diboll; sister, Donna Lee of Diboll; sisters-in-law, Betty Hubenthal and husband Kenneth of Houston and Sarah Holland of Pollok; very special niece, Sandy Jackson of Lufkin; special cousins, Clayton McClendon, R.D. McClendon, Gayland McClendon, and Roy Neal McClendon; special friends, Ed Bush, David Mosley, Mike Brevell, and Roland Brock; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be John McClain, Lewis Edward Smith, George McClain, Karl Hubenthal, Johnnie Dixon, J.C. Crawford, Daniel O’Quinn, and Jerald Smith.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
