Patricia Ann Sparks

Patricia Ann Sparks, 85, of Lufkin died Saturday, July 19, 2025 in Lufkin. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home and private memorial services will be held at a later date.

Patricia was born November 4, 1939 in Pikeville, Kentucky to the late Gladys (Maynard) and Troy W. Sparks. She graduated high school in Pikeville, Kentucky in 1957 and was a 1961 graduate of Louisville General Hospital School of Nursing in Louisville, Kentucky. In 1975 she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, with honors, from The University of Texas School of Nursing in Galveston, Texas. In 1980 she received her Master of Science from The University of Texas in Tyler, Texas.

Pat worked across numerous states, specializing in autoimmune diseases. Her passion for education led her to teach nursing and surgical nursing at Kilgore College and then at Angelina College. She retired in 1995.

Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, David C. and Freda Sparks; and nephew, John F. Kletzly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Nellie E. Kletzly; and brother, Troy Sparks.

Patricia Sparks lived her life on her own terms, independently, courageously, and with a fierce sense of self. She leaves behind a legacy of hard work, compassion, and adventure.

She was loved by many, and cherished by Angie LeFloor and Donovan Sender, her chosen family.
