Visitation for Patricia Ann “Pat” Slaughter, 82, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Carroway Funeral Home. Private family graveside services will be prior to the visitation in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Patricia Ann “Pat” Slaughter was born on February 4, 1943, in Lufkin, Texas to the late Dorothy (Looney) and Alfred M. Taylor, and died Wednesday, October 22, 2025, in Lufkin.
Pat was a graduate of Lufkin High School, Class of 1961. Classmates remember her as “the girl who drove that yellow thunderbird”.
After high school, Pat attended Texas Christian University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education. She was a proud member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and an avid TCU Horned Frog football fan.
Pat had resided in Lufkin since graduating from college and was a homemaker. She loved traveling the world and did so extensively with several of her closest friends. Her favorite spots included Greece and the Mediterranean.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, John Lee Slaughter of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Lee and Ashley Slaughter of Lufkin; and beloved family members, Sydney and Dr. Clay Smithhart of Houston, and Jordan and Riley Ellington of Whitehouse.
Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Taylor, Lindsay Taylor, Randall Taylor, Rodney Latham, Jim Roper, and Joey Teer.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
