Pascuel Gaylon Wright

Private graveside services for Pascuel Gaylon Wright, 83, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2026 in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Mount Pleasant, Texas. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Angelina Church of Christ to celebrate Gaylon.

Mr. Wright was born June 10, 1942 in Cookville, Texas to Pack Wright and Christine (Grigsby) Wright, and passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2026 in a local hospital.

Gaylon grew up in Mount Pleasant, where he attended Mount Pleasant schools and graduated from Mount Pleasant High School. He went on to further his education at East Texas State University, earning his degree and beginning a lifelong commitment to education.

He started his teaching career at Chester ISD as a high school teacher. In 1968, he became one of the original founding professors at Angelina College, where he dedicated 36 years to shaping the lives of countless students before retiring in May 2004. Teaching was more than a profession to Gaylon — it was his calling.

Gaylon was a faithful member of Angelina Church of Christ. He treasured time spent with his church family and colleagues from Angelina College, especially their frequent outings to enjoy good food and fellowship. He was particularly fond of church lunches and never passed up a slice of key lime pie.

Gaylon will be remembered for his dedication to education, his steady faith, his love of fellowship, and the lasting impact he made on generations of students and all who knew him.

Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Todd Wright, Gavin and Cari Wright; his beloved grandchildren, Brittany Davidson-Wright, Logan Wright, Landon Wright, and Londyn Wright; mother of his children, Linda Wright; and numerous other relatives and friends. His family was a source of great pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pack and Christine Wright.
