Funeral services for Palmer Gene Teichelman, 88, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 1001 Atkinson Drive, Lufkin, with Pastor Kenneth Bunge officiating. Following the service, Palmer will be laid to rest at Clapp Cemetery located on Piney Woods Road (FM 1893), northwest of Trinity, Texas.
Our Savior, Jesus Christ destroyed death and granted immortality through the Gospel. We remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant Palmer.
Palmer Gene Teichelman, son of Emma Lena (Locke) and Otto Emmanuel Teichelman, was born in Riesel, Texas January 16, 1937. He was baptized March 7, 1937. He was confirmed March 29, 1953.
He met Eula Narcissa Hare at a friend’s birthday party. Three years and eleven dates later, he married the love of his life on July 5, 1958.
Palmer enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1955. He served in many places, including Japan, Newfoundland, Guam, Vietnam, California and Germany. Upon retirement from the military, he worked in auto body shops doing paint and bodywork, and he became proficient at automobile frame repair.
In his early years, Palmer spent time hunting and fishing. He was always ready to beat you at a game of dominoes. He was a BBQ master. He had a green thumb and planted a huge vegetable garden every year. He had a roadside stand where repeat customers sought him out year after year for his tomatoes. He loved celebrating the birth of his Lord and Savior, especially if he could shower the family with large piles of presents. He led the adult Bible class for several years at his church.
On July 3, 2025, God took Palmer home to rest in the arms of Jesus. He left a legacy of faith and is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eula Narcissa “Narcy” Teichelman; daughter, Pamela Brissee and husband Jim; son, Lincoln Teichelman and wife Heidi; and son, Anthomy Teichelman. He is also survived by his sisters, Molly Kelinske and husband Larry, Patsy Olson, Nancy Pavelka, and Vera Reed. Grandchildren include Jacob Brissee and Angela So, Erica Brissee, Rebecca Burns and husband Cody, Samuel Teichelman and wife Victoria, and Janine Teichelman; great-grandchildren include Chritopher, Elizabeth, Roman, Eden, Benjamin, and Solomon; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Palmer was preceded in death by his parents and grandchild, Paul Teichelman.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Reed, Keith Pavelka, Michael Pavelka, Jacob Brissee, Herbert Hare, John Hare, and Sam Teichelman.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon prior to the services.
