Oluwasiji Kemi Tanimonu

Funeral services for Oluwasiji Kemi Tanimonu, 51, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Phil Novak officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Oluwasiji Kemi Tanimonu, born April 18, 1972 to Michael and Julianna Tanimonu in Lagos, Nigeria, went to be with the Lord on Saturday February 17, 2024 in Tyler, Texas.

Kemi is preceded in death by her father, Michael Tanimonu, and brother the Rev'd Canon Olusola Tanimonu.

Kemi is survived by her three children, Ibrahim Jethro Iliyasu, Lami Jemimah Iliyasu, and Tabitha Semira Iliyasu as well as her siblings, Dr. Olubunmi Oladele-Ajose, DPT, Abosede Olaniyan, Olusegun Tanimonu, Olukunle Tanimonu, and Olaoluwa Ogunyemi, and many nephews and nieces.

Kemi, often fondly referred to as “Aunty Kemi” and only called by her brother Olusegun as 'Sis. K' had an infectious spunk and a spark that left you smiling ear to ear with every interaction. She had a fiery and unbeatable spirit that showed up in her work. She lived life on her own terms and worked incredibly hard to obtain her nursing degree and to provide a comfortable life for her three children, whom she loved with every ounce of her being. She was deeply committed to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and lived as an ambassador for him. She was actively involved in hospice ministry bringing the love and comfort of Christ to those who needed it. The family she leaves behind will continue to highlight her incredible life and the impact she made on many lives. Kemi, you will forever be in our hearts. May you rest ever so peacefully in heaven, until we see you again.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
