Oda Wilkerson

Funeral services for Oda Weeks Wilkerson, 102, of Diboll will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Diboll First United Pentecostal Church with Reverend Danny Beard, Reverend David Hunt, Reverend Steve Zorich, and Reverend Kevin Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Wilkerson was born March 6, 1916 in Beulah, Texas to the late Ceola (Morris) and Wiley Carroll Weeks, and died Sunday, March 18, 2018 at her residence.

Mrs. Wilkerson had resided in Angelina County all of her life. She was a homemaker and was known for her cooking and her home always being open to others. She was passionate about her faith and was faithfully involved with the Eastview Ladies Prayer Group. On Tuesdays after prayer group, lunches at Chik-fil-A with her sister-in-law, Jakie, was a time-honored tradition. Mrs. Wilkerson was a former member of Eastview United Pentecostal Church. She was currently a member of Diboll First United Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Peggy LaVerne Wilkins of Houston and Betty Ann Fridell of Diboll, and Bobbie Joyce Burnett and husband Sterling of Houston; son, George Wayne Wilkerson and wife Kathy of Houston; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, A.D. “Dewitt” Wilkerson; great-granddaughter, Macy Fridell; twin sister, Ora Weeks Black; and half-sisters, Maurine Francis and Jane Whittington.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
