Norma Louise (Safford) Watts, 83, of Corrigan — beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt — went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 22, 2026. The youngest child of Estelle (Kennedy) and William “Bill” Safford, Norma was born on November 22, 1942, in Camden.
Norma loved her family and her faith, which brought her great peace. She had a keen sense of humor with a laugh that lit up the room, warmly welcomed all, and delighted her loved ones with her baking talents, especially fresh apple cake and divinity.
She graduated from John H. Reagan High School in Houston and later worked as an administrative assistant for Dresser Magcobar in Houston and Temple Inland in Diboll. Norma believed all children should receive a quality education and proudly served on the Corrigan-Camden ISD Board of Trustees.
Norma will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Estelle and William Safford, and her first husband, Marvin “Monty” Sonsel. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Terry Watts of Corrigan; son and daughter-in-law, Andrew Sonsel and Michelle of Corrigan; step-daughter, Piper Richards of West; step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Oliver Watts and Carla of Lufkin; grandchildren Monty Sonsel, Drew Sonsel and Dylan Rice; great-grandchild, Kyle Rice; step-grandchildren, Alaira Sumrall, Avery and Brayden Fenity, Peyton Collins, Audrie Watts, Campbell Watts, and Jude Collins; step-great-grandchildren, Evelyn Sumrall and Kayce Fenity; sister Barbara (Safford) Hudson of Tomball, sister and brother-in-law Anna (Safford) Jones and Alvin of Huntsville; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Corrigan, where she was a member, with Brother Larry Trest officiating. The family will also welcome loved ones from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday morning at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow at Carmona Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Monty Sonsel, Drew Sonsel, Dylan Rice, Oliver Watts, Campbell Watts and Jude Collins.
