Norma Jean Smith

Funeral services for Norma Jean Smith, 89, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Gary Rowe officiating. Interment will follow in Whitehouse Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was born January 22, 1935 in Zavalla, Texas to the late Georgia (Brown) and Charles Crain, and died Friday, August 2, 2024 at her residence. She retired from Safeway. Mrs. Smith was a charter member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Huber; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark Smith, Michael and Kathleen Smith, and Roger and Lisa Smith; grandchildren, Holly Larabee, Jonathan Huber, Rhett Smith, Derek Smith, Desirae Allen, and Collin Smith; nine great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Ida Crain; sister, Sandra Williams; and niece, Cassie Mullins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J.W. “PeeWee” Smith; son-in-law, John Huber; and great-grandson Colt Reid Allen.

Pallbearers will be Rhett Smith, Derek Smith, Norman Poteet, Jonathan Huber, Darrell Cook, and Lee Allen.

The family extends special thanks to Jordan Holloway and Mrs. Smith’s daughter Debbie for the loving care they gave her.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
