Graveside services for Norma Jean Burnett, 85, of Ore City, formerly of Lufkin, will be held Friday, December 17, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Narrow Way Cemetery with Mae Mullins officiating.
Mrs. Burnett was born September 15, 1936 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Effie May (Battles) and George Wesley Johnson, and died Wednesday, December 15, 2021 in Gilmer.
Mrs. Burnett had resided in Ore City for 51 years. She worked as a nurse assistant before retiring. Before that she worked in restaurants and as a young girl she worked in a laundromat. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Mae and Phillip Mullins of Gilmer, Connie and Darrell Wade of Arlington, Ruthie Yocum of Ore City, and Nancy and Tony Howard of California; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, James Johnson and Thomas Johnson; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 55 years, Clinton Doyle “Buddy” Burnett in 2010; daughter, Karen Simmons in 2010; son, John Clinton Burnett in 2017; brother, Wesley Johnson; and the family who raised her, Pete and Ruthie Johnson.
