Memorial services for Nell Thornton will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Huntington First Baptist Church with Pastor Byron Smith officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Nell Thornton, 85, of Huntington, Texas, peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday, June 13, 2026.

Nell was born November 7, 1940 in Bay City, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dora Mae (Williams) Smith; father, RB Smith; and her two siblings.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Doyle Thornton; her daughters, Karan Barrera and Terri Kirby and husband Howard; her grandchildren, Ashley Roberson and husband Dallas, Kyle Kirby, Taylor McCombs and husband Cory, and Danielle Kirby; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Brayden, Addisyn, Camden, and Taegan.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family rejoices in the promise that because of her faith in Christ, this is not goodbye, but until they meet again.
