Nelda Jo Caldwell

Memorial services for Nelda Jo Caldwell, 88, of Huntington will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Cary Modisett officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mrs. Caldwell was born January 24, 1930 in the Manning Community of Angelina County, Texas to the late Cecil Edna (Weaver) and Horace Sowell, and died Thursday, September 20, 2018 in a local nursing home.

Mrs. Caldwell was a graduate of La Porte High School where she was Drum Major of the band. She retired from Exxon Chemical following 25 years of employment. Mrs. Caldwell was a member of the Huntington Garden Club.

Survivors include her husband, Donald “Red” Caldwell of Huntington; daughter, Jo E. Boreta of California; son, George Caldwell of Huntington; granddaughters, Lauren Boreta and Crystal Kroeger; grandson, Justin Boreta; great-granddaughters, Erin Kroeger and Averie Kroeger; best friend, Sherry Arnall; and her dog that was with her until she passed away, Gesha.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jon Karen Baker.
