Naoima Joyce Richard

Graveside services for Naoima Joyce Richard, 86, of Lufkin, will be held Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in the Berry Cemetery with Brother Ron Meadows officiating.

Naoima was born February 21, 1932 in Angelina, Texas to the late Alvie Sheridan and Bertha Lee (McCoy) Selman and died Friday, November 30, 2018, at Spring Creek Village, Spring, Texas.

Mrs. Richard, formerly of Channelview, had resided in Lufkin for 25 years. She was a homemaker, school cafeteria manager who loved cooking and volunteer work at Memorial Hospital. She was a loving mother, grandmother and a member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Suzy Richard of Spring; daughter-in-law, Terry Richard of South Houston; granddaughter and husband, Valerie and David Howard of Houston; granddaughter, Kristina Lynn Roberts of Haskell, OK; grandson and wife, James Matthew and Christine Eslinger Richard of Vine Grove, Kentucky; great grandchildren, Levi Rhoden, Rylee, Easton, Austyn and Sydnie Roberts; and great-great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Billy Selman and Ruby Ard; sisters-in-law, Linda Selman, Odell Reihle and Jean Rudd, all of Lufkin; and brother-in-law, Tommie Floyce Watson of Hudson; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Naoima was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Richard; her son, James Phelan Richard; brother and sister-in-law Sheridan Lee and Nila Rosales Selman; sister, Nancy Elizabeth McCall; brother, Spencer Carroll Selman; and sister-in-law, Wanda Jo “Cookie” Selman.

The family will receive friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
