Visitation for “Mr. Ray” Spornhauer, 64, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Carroway Funeral Home. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mr. Spornhauer was born April 13, 1959 in Wilmington, Ohio to the late Gloria Fay (Moore) and Raymond Frederick Spornhauer, and died Wednesday, August 30, 2023 in a local hospital.
Mr. Spornhauer graduated from Eastern High School located in Ohio in 1977 and attended Raymond Walters College. He was an entrepreneur, business owner and was a leader in the community. He had owned and operated Golden Corral in Lufkin for 30 years and six years ago he opened Mr. Ray’s Food Court. In his spare time he enjoyed bass fishing, traveling with his wife, conversing with his customers, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Rosa (Balderrama) Spornhauer of Lufkin; children, Christina Frias and husband Arnulfo Jr., Michael Spornhauer, all of Fort Worth, Raymond Spornhauer of Connecticut, Melissa Spornhauer of Ohio, and Nancy Jacob of Diboll; seven grandchildren; six brothers; two sisters; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Spornhauer.
