Michael Walsh

Funeral services for Michael Walsh, 69, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jim Housley officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow at Old Union Cemetery.

Michael was born on the 4th of July, 1955 in New York City, New York to Barbara (May) and Michael Patrick Walsh. He went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Hospice in the Pines Inpatient in Lufkin.

Michael continued his patriotic birth by joining the U.S. Navy at age 18 and served his country for two years. He loved God, his family, country, and community. Michael met Debra at Providence Baptist Church in 1990. They fell in love and married shortly after. He helped Debra raise her son Doug Boyd as his own. He continued to provide for his family by starting a gunsmithing business for over 20 years as well as numerous other jobs. He continued his love for community and helping people by becoming a Central Volunteer Fireman in 2016. He then went on to become one of the oldest people to complete EMT training at the age of 68. Sadly, he lost his battle with cancer shortly after that. Michael’s love for the Lord was abundant and he shared that love with whomever he could. He was an active member of Heritage Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Debra (Ripley) Walsh of Lufkin; stepson and wife, Doug and Christina Boyd of Lufkin; grandchildren, Blain Boyd and Shia Boyd of Lufkin; sister-in-law and husband, Vicki and Frank Hernandez; and mother-in-law, Frances Ripley.

He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Kenneth Ripley.

Pallbearers will be Central Volunteer Firemen Oscar Rabago, Dennis Cochran, Steven Nerren, Greg Freijo, Garland Bates, and Kenneth Bradberry.

In lieu of flower, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904, Central Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 66, Pollok, Texas 75969, or Heritage Baptist Church, 1910 S. John Redditt Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning prior to the services.
