Memorial services with military honors for Michael Jay Rankin, 58, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Charley Munro officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mike was born February 19, 1968 in Alvin, Texas to Lynn Rankin and Randall Ray Rankin, Sr., and passed away peacefully Sunday, May 3, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Mike resided in Kingwood, Texas prior to moving to Lufkin almost 20 years ago. He worked in the health care industry and served as Vice President of Operations, Environmental Services for Hospital Housekeeping Systems. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Signalman Second Class Petty Officer, dedicating over 8 years of honorable service.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Trish Rankin of Lufkin; children, Brent Rankin, Chelsae Nick, Dylan Rankin and wife Katlyn, all of Lufkin; grandchildren, Cooper Lane Nick, Sutton Michael Rankin; mother, Lynn Rankin of Lufkin; brother, Randall Ray Rankin, Jr. and wife Connie of Granbury; sister, J’Nell Grohman and husband Kevin of Goliad; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Randall Ray Rankin, Sr.
He was a man who truly embraced life - finding joy in the outdoors, peace in hunting and fishing, and happiness in time spent with his family. He had a special love for cooking, often bringing people together around a good meal. He was a hard worker who took pride in all he did, and he had a servant’s heart, always willing to help anyone in need. He was known for his constant smile and the way he made everyone feel welcome - because to him, everyone he met was a friend. While his absence leaves a deep void, his spirit lives on in the memories we share and the love he poured into each of us. Mike made a lasting difference simply by being who he was.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mike’s memory to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904, in appreciation of the care and compassion shown.
