A memorial service for Michael Thomas James, age 48, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Ralph Johnson officiating.
Born on October 10, 1977, in Shreveport, Louisiana to R. Dan and Linda James, Michael was called to join our Lord Jesus Christ on October 15, 2025.
Known for his endearing love of quietly observing others, Michael was a gentle soul who found joy in simple pleasures. He had interest in Hot Wheels cars and had a special attachment to his beloved blanket. His close bond with his mother was evident and brought happiness to those who witnessed their interactions. He enjoyed listening to music, particularly gospel and classic country, and never passed up an opportunity for a good nap.
Michael is survived by his parents; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Melissa and Todd McIlhaney of College Station, Carrie and Mark Dixon of Pollok, and Allison and Charlie Henry of Santa Fe. His nieces and nephew include Grace Baker and husband Blake Baker, Katherine Dixon and fiancé Wyatt Alexander, Kalli Dixon, Reagan Dixon, and Garrett McIlhaney.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at the Lufkin State Supportive Living Center and Hospice in the Pines for their dedicated care of Michael and support to his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lufkin State Supportive Living located in Lufkin.
Michael was loved and will be deeply missed. We rest in the fact that he is in heaven and has been made whole. Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
