Funeral services for Michael Earl Cook, 68, of Pollok will be held Friday, November 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Cowart officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Cook was born August 30, 1949 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Ruby Pearl (Powell) and Earl Cook, and died Sunday, November 5, 2017 at his residence.
Mr. Cook had resided in Pollok all of his life. He was a Surveyor for over 55 years, 30 years working for Temple Inland, then self-employed until he retired. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting. He loved tending to his farm and cows and chickens, and he took great pride in his garden. He found great delight in giving the vegetables he grew away to others. He never met a stranger and enjoyed visiting with his many friends. He liked his football and baseball and was a Dallas Cowboys fan. Mr. Cook was a hard worker and was a great provider. He was a shining example to all who knew him. He was a wonderful and loving father and grandfather to his daughter Michelle and her children and he adored his grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughter Michelle Upchurch and her husband Jesse of Pollok; grandchildren, Chandler Upchurch, Deserae Upchurch, and Kade Upchurch; fiancee’, Janice Doss of Pollok; sister, Helen Bentley and Gerald of Lufkin; brothers, John Cook and Beth of Porter, James Cook and Lisa of Pollok, Kenny Cook and Lori Culbertson of Lufkin, and Stuart Cook of Pollok; mother of his daughter Michelle, Martha Cook of Pollok; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Freda Cook Lee.
Pallbearers will be Trent Cook, Stephen Bentley, Chad Bentley, Kyle Cook, Colton Cook, Mark Cook, Blake Cook, and David Cook.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Smith, Joe Mack Allen, Tony Gurrero, Ralph Loggins, Louis Torres, and Charles Anderson.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
