Melvin R. Thompson

Funeral services for Melvin R. Thompson, 80, of Diboll will be held Friday, May 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother D.R. McNaughton and Brother Myrton Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the Ryan Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Thompson was born June 12, 1938 in Diboll, Texas to the late Mary (Anderson) and Louy Jewel Thompson, and died Wednesday, May 22, 2019 in a local hospital.

Mr. Thompson was a lifelong resident of Diboll. He retired from Temple after 40 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching wrestling. Mr. Thompson was a member of Harborlight Church.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Frances Thompson of Diboll; sons, Melvin Ray Thompson and wife Teresa and Bubba Thompson and wife Ragena, all of Diboll; grandchildren, Jessica Thompson, Michelle Hannah, Chip Thompson, Monica Dawson, Jared Thompson, and Trey Mettlen; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters; two brothers; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Ruby Barringer; one brother; and one sister.

Pallbearers will be Jared Thompson, Chip Thompson, Trey Mettlen, Tyler Dawson, David Singleton, and George Trego.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday morning prior to the service at the funeral home.
