Graveside services for Melva L. Bailey VanSchoubroek, 83, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Dr. John W. Greene officiating.
Mrs. VanSchoubroek was born March 9, 1943 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Claudia (Davis) and Curtis Bailey, and died Sunday, June 7, 2026 at The Joseph House in Lufkin.
She was a lifetime resident of Lufkin and retired from the Texas Department of Public Safety after 30 plus years as a secretary in the Narcotics Division. Mrs. VanSchoubroek was a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Angela VanSchoubroek of Lufkin; grandchildren and spouses, Morgan and Clay Crawford of Pollok, Hunter and Tristan VanSchoubroek of Huffman, Casey and Mallorie VanSchoubroek of Tyler, and Cody and Paula VanSchoubroek of Nacogdoches; six great-grandchildren; nephew (who she considered as her third son) and wife, Kenneth and Debra Spears of Seguin, along with niece, Bonnie Cooper of Conroe; and a number of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Curtis G. VanSchoubroek; and son, Curtis Gerald VanSchoubroek, Jr.
The family extends special thanks to her caregiver, Monica Kelley.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
